Harold Post Office was established on February 5, 1845 with Gibson K. Robinson, postmaster. Richard L. Winfrey was appointed March 1, 1860, and James W. Cunningham became postmaster on November 20, 1860. The office was discontinued as of July 2, 1866, but re-established January 14, 1867, with Charles P. Dunbaugh, postmaster. The following individuals also served as postmasters or acting postmasters of Harold and are listed with their dates of appointment: Ellen K. Robinson —June 22, 1868; Rebecca L. Martin—November 19, 1869; Henry C. Lamb—March 12, 1873; William T. Housley—May 18, 1875; Joseph W. Shaw—April 4, 1876; Henry H. Williamson—July 17, 1877; John M. Lillard—April 4, 1879; and William T. Housley—March 15, 1880.

After Harold’s name was officially changed to Cedar Glades Post Office on March 26, 1883, Evander T. Housley became postmaster. Following Housley were Robert J. Housley—February 27, 1884; Bartholomew A. Ault—July 19, 1897; Isaac G. Neal—August 6, 1907; John N. Moore—January 9, 1908; Ehrefrid M. Liljinberg—February 24, 1908; and B.A. Ault—May 19, 1914. Except for a brief stint by James Arthur Riley (1928-1931), the Ault family served the Cedar Glades office between 1914 and 1950. Ruey S. Ault was postmaster a total of ten years, serving both before and after Riley, and until he moved to Hot Springs in 1937. His brother, Roy A. Ault, then took over; he retired in 1950. Dorothy Halsell Robbins was appointed July 31, 1950, and served until the office’s location was moved to Possum Kingdom Road on May 31, 1951. Postmaster then was Charles A. Hahn. Since area residents had moved away during the construction of Blakely Dam, there was not enough mail to warrant the existence of the Cedar Glades Post Office. It officially closed August 31, 1953. After that, the mail went through Mountain Pine.
